Bursitis is inflammation to fluid filled sacs called bursa. Bursae are located in many parts of the body and act to provide cushioning.

Pain is usually localised to the outer aspect of the hip (see picture).
Aggravating factors include:
– Climbing Stairs
– Getting out of the car
– Long distance running

Physiotherapy can help to:
– Find the cause of the problem such as biomechanical faults
– Advise with hip stretching and specific strengthening exercises
– Electrotherapy
– Sports taping techniques
